Worded warning sign

What does this sign mean?

Some warnings are given in words rather than a symbol, and this example warns of a ford where a stream crosses the road. Worded signs are used where no standard symbol exists or where the message needs spelling out, and a depth gauge is often provided alongside. Check the depth before entering water, drive through slowly in a low gear, and test your brakes gently once you are clear. Driving through a ford is a set piece in the theory test, with the correct answer being slow entry and a brake test afterwards.
