Warning signs

Cycle route ahead

What does this sign mean?

This sign warns that a cycle route crosses or joins the road ahead, so you should expect cyclists at the point marked. It is used where a traffic-free path meets the carriageway and where a cycle lane begins. Check your mirrors and blind spot before turning or changing position, and give cyclists plenty of room when you pass. The theory test places heavy emphasis on looking for cyclists before turning left across their path, which is exactly the situation this sign anticipates.
