Sharp deviation of route to left (or right if chevrons reversed)

Warning signs

Sharp deviation of route

Sharp deviation of route to left (or right if chevrons reversed)

What does this sign mean?

Black and white chevrons mark a sharp change of direction, pointing the way the road turns; here they point left, and a reversed board means the road turns right. Boards like these are placed on the outside of tight bends, at the ends of central reservations and where a road turns abruptly at a junction. Slow down before you reach the chevrons and steer to follow them rather than cutting the corner. Because chevrons are used at the sites of frequent collisions, theory test questions treat them as a strong warning to reduce speed early.
