Tunnel ahead

What does this sign mean?

A tunnel lies ahead, and the plate usually gives its length and sometimes its height limit. The change from daylight to artificial light briefly reduces what you can see, and tunnels have their own rules on lanes, stopping and hazardous loads. Remove sunglasses, switch on dipped headlights, keep a safe distance and listen for radio or signal instructions inside. Tunnel driving is specifically covered in the Highway Code and shows up in theory test questions about breakdowns and congestion in confined spaces.
