Warning signs

Dual carriageway ends

What does this sign mean?

The sign warns that the central reservation is about to finish and the two carriageways will merge into a single two-way road. It typically appears at the end of a bypass or an improved section, where speeds have been high and drivers are spread across two lanes. Check your mirrors, merge in good time, and complete any overtake well before the carriageway narrows, because oncoming traffic will soon be sharing the road. Test questions pair it with the two-way traffic warning to check you know both mean an end to one-directional flow.
