No vehicles over height shown

What does this sign mean?

Vehicles taller than the height on the sign must not proceed, and the figure is normally given in both metric and imperial units. It protects low bridges, tunnels and archways from bridge strikes, which cause serious damage and long delays. If you drive anything tall, you must know its exact loaded height and turn off before the restriction rather than gambling on clearance. Knowing your vehicle's height and heeding these signs is core lorry and bus theory test material.
