Signs giving orders

No vehicles carrying explosives

What does this sign mean?

Vehicles carrying explosives must not go beyond this sign, which is used at tunnels, under bridges and on routes where an incident would be catastrophic. Drivers of such loads must plan a route in advance and follow the signed alternative. Ordinary drivers simply need to recognise the sign and understand why the restriction exists. It is more relevant to the lorry theory test, but car candidates may still meet it in questions about signs that apply to specific vehicles.
