Red route, no stopping

No stopping during period indicated except for buses

What does this sign mean?

On a red route you must not stop during the times shown, and the only exception on this sign is for buses. Red routes are major urban through-routes, most familiar in London, marked with red lines along the kerb instead of yellow ones. Stopping to drop someone off or to make a delivery is prohibited unless a marked bay allows it, and enforcement is usually by camera. The theory test expects you to know red lines are stricter than yellow ones and to read the plate for the hours and exceptions.
