Signs giving orders
No cycling
What does this sign mean?
Cycling is prohibited beyond this sign, though a rider may normally push a bicycle through on foot. It is used in pedestrian areas, on some footbridges and in subways where cycling would put people walking at risk. Drivers who meet it should note that any cyclist beyond the sign is likely to be walking. Prohibition signs aimed at other road users still appear in the car theory test, because reading the symbol in the red ring is the skill being examined.
