No motor vehicles

What does this sign mean?

Cars, motorcycles and other motor vehicles are banned beyond this sign, although cyclists and pedestrians may still use the road. It is used on routes reserved for non-motorised users and on access-restricted lanes in towns. Do not ride or drive past it, and expect to see people cycling and walking freely on the road beyond. Test questions use it to check you can read the two symbols in the circle, which show a car and a motorcycle, rather than guessing from the shape alone.
