What does this road marking mean?

A bay with words painted in it reserving the space for a named user or class of vehicle, such as a doctor, a permit holder or a particular resident. The words on the road are the restriction, and there is usually a matching sign at the kerb. Parking in a reserved space without the entitlement it names is an offence even when the bay is empty. These bays are common outside surgeries and in residents' parking zones.
