What does this road marking mean?

The plate that gives a nearby bay or yellow line its meaning, setting out the days, the hours and any maximum stay. A typical plate limits parking to a fixed period with a no-return condition, so moving the vehicle a few metres and parking again does not reset the clock. The paint on the road is only ever a pointer to this sign. Where a plate and the markings appear to disagree, the sign carries the legal restriction.
