What does this road marking mean?

Arrows painted in each lane showing which movements that lane is intended for on the approach to a junction. Getting into the correct lane early is the point of them, because a late change across a solid line or a hatched area is exactly the manoeuvre that causes collisions. Where an arrow permits more than one movement, both are allowed from that lane. Follow the arrows rather than the position of the vehicle in front, which may be in the wrong lane.
