What does this road marking mean?

Two short yellow marks painted on the kerb or the edge of the carriageway meaning no loading or unloading at any time. They are easy to overlook because they sit on the kerb rather than on the road surface, and they operate independently of the yellow lines alongside them. A length of road can therefore allow waiting while banning loading. Passengers boarding or alighting are not affected by the restriction.
