Road markings

Keep clear

Do not block that part of the carriageway indicated

What does this road marking mean?

The words KEEP CLEAR painted across a length of carriageway, usually outside an access that traffic needs to use at any time. You must not let your vehicle come to rest on the marking, even in queuing traffic where it feels unavoidable. The correct response in a queue is to hold back before the marking rather than creep onto it. It commonly protects fire station exits, factory gates and busy side roads.
