Give way triangle

Warning of ‘Give Way’ just ahead

What does this road marking mean?

A large white triangle painted on the carriageway warning that a give way line is close ahead. It gives you time to slow down and look before you reach the junction itself, particularly where buildings or a bend hide the line until late. The triangle always points in the direction of travel. Seeing it should prompt the same routine as the sign: mirrors, speed, then a proper look both ways.
