Direction signs
Primary route sign on the approach to a junction
On approaches to junctions
What does this sign mean?
This advance direction sign appears before a junction on a primary route and shows the layout ahead in map form, with the destination on each arm. It gives you time to choose a lane, check mirrors and signal without rushing. Read it early, since the junction may follow within a few hundred yards. Advance signs are what the theory test means when it asks how you should prepare for a junction you have not yet reached.
