Primary route confirmatory sign

Route confirmatory sign after junction

What does this sign mean?

After a junction on a primary route, this green sign confirms the road number and lists distances to places ahead. It tells you that you took the correct turning and how far you still have to go. Glance at it when the road is straight and clear rather than in the middle of merging traffic. In the theory test the point is simply to know that a confirmatory sign appears after a junction, not before it.
