Motorway route confirmatory sign
Route confirmatory sign after junction
What does this sign mean?
After you have joined or passed a junction, a blue confirmatory sign lists the route number and the distances to places along it. Its job is reassurance: it confirms you took the right exit and tells you how far the next destinations are. Read it once you are settled in a lane rather than while merging, and use the distances to plan fuel and rest stops. In the theory test, confirmatory signs are contrasted with advance direction signs, which appear before a junction rather than after it.
