Get in lane

Downward pointing arrows mean ‘Get in lane’ The left-hand lane leads to a different destination from the other lanes.

What does this sign mean?

Downward pointing arrows over the lanes mean get in lane, and each arrow shows where that lane will take you; here the left-hand lane leads somewhere different from the others. Signs like this are used on the approach to complex junctions and where a motorway splits. Choose your lane as soon as you have read the sign, because late lane changes at these points cause a large share of collisions. Lane selection at a splitting junction is a common theory test scenario.
