Information signs
Traffic in the right-hand lane of the slip road has priority
Traffic in right hand lane of slip road joining the main carriageway has priority over left hand lane
What does this sign mean?
Where a slip road has two lanes, this sign shows that traffic in the right-hand lane has priority over traffic in the left-hand lane as they combine. It is used at busy entries where two lanes of joining traffic must resolve before reaching the main carriageway. Read the diagram, decide early which lane you need and merge smoothly rather than accelerating to win the gap. Priority diagrams like this are tested because guessing wrong puts two vehicles into the same space at speed.
