Appropriate traffic lanes at junction ahead

What does this sign mean?

This sign shows which lane serves which destination at the junction ahead, so you can position yourself before the lane markings begin. It is used where the choice of lane is not obvious, such as at large junctions with several turning options. Get into the correct lane early and stay in it rather than changing at the last moment. Late lane changes at junctions are a well-known cause of collisions and a common theory test scenario.
