Recommended route for pedal cycles

What does this sign mean?

This sign marks a route recommended for cyclists, usually chosen to avoid the busiest traffic. For a driver it is advance notice that cyclists will be using this road in numbers, including less confident riders. Leave plenty of room when passing, and take particular care at junctions where a cyclist may be alongside or slightly behind you. Checking your nearside before turning left is one of the most frequently examined actions in the theory test.
