Home Zone entry

What does this sign mean?

A Home Zone is a residential street designed to be shared by drivers, pedestrians and children playing, and this sign marks where one begins. The layout, surfacing and planting are all intended to make you drive at little more than walking pace. Drive slowly and carefully, expect people and children in the carriageway, and give way to them rather than expecting them to move aside. Home Zones and Quiet Lanes are named in the Highway Code and appear in theory test questions about shared spaces.
