Light signals controlling traffic
Obstruction signal
You MUST NOT enter or continue in the left lane: an obstruction ahead, with a temporary mandatory speed limit.
What does this light signal mean?
This gantry signal closes the left-hand lane and sets a temporary maximum speed, with the word Obstruction giving the reason. You must not enter or continue in the closed lane. The obstruction may be a broken-down vehicle, debris or a collision, and it may be well beyond the gantry. Move over early and pass at the posted speed, watching for people who may be outside their vehicle.
