Works vehicle blocking a lane, pass in the direction of the arrow

Slow-moving or stationary works vehicle blocking a traffic lane. Pass in the direction shown by the arrow.

What does this sign mean?

This board is displayed on the back of a slow-moving or stationary works vehicle that is blocking a traffic lane, and the arrow shows the side on which you should pass. It is used on motorways and dual carriageways where maintenance is carried out without a full lane closure. Move over in good time and pass on the side indicated, giving the vehicle and any workers a wide berth. Boards carried on the back of works vehicles are a distinct group in the theory test, so read the arrow rather than assuming which side is clear.
